Dining On board the Danube Express Luxury Train
Our Executive Chef and his team of restaurant staff create delicious meals using only the best ingredients. Depending on how many guests are onboard, one or two Restaurant Cars may be available on each departure.
On-train breakfast is a delight. We offer a variety of fruits, cereals and orange juices. You can also choose to have a cooked breakfast prepared for you by our wait staff. All of this is accompanied by hot tea or coffee.
You can enjoy delicious food, great wines, and attentive service in the warm atmosphere of Restaurant Car for lunch or dinner.
We provide a culinary experience that is authentic to the cultures we visit in addition to international cuisine. Vegetarian and other dietary choices are also available.
Our lunch and dinner menus include a great selection of wines from all over the globe, which Tim Littler personally selected. Beers and soft drinks are also provided.
The relaxed atmosphere of meals aboard is due to the fact that all passengers can be accommodated in one Restaurant Car. The journey is casually dressed so that you can enjoy the culinary experience in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The Bar Lounge Carriage
Bar Lounge Car is the social heart of Golden Eagle Danube Express. It’s a great place for relaxation and to settle in to the relaxed pace of life aboard.
Retire in comfortable surroundings, take in the scenery and make new friends. You can read a book to pass the time, or challenge your friends at a game of cards.
Our Tour Manager will organise a program of activities. Throughout the tour, passengers will be provided with printed itineraries detailing train arrival and departure times, the latest weather forecasts for next destination, and information about the day’s excursions or activities.
The Bar Lounge Car and Restaurant Cars offer a wide range of entertainment and educational activities, including language lessons and informative talks by experts on local culture and history. weather information for the day can be found along with itineraries and excursion details.
Enjoy the music of the resident pianist in the Bar Lounge Car. The bar remains open every night until the last customer leaves.
What Is Included In Danube Express Tours?
All accommodation according to the itinerary, both in hotels and onboard the train. All meals, starting with dinner the first day. A generous allowance of wine and beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee with all meals; all departure and arrival transfers; guided off-train sightseeing excursions with experienced Tour Leaders; gratuities; and a doctor travelling with the group.
What Is Not Included In Danube Express Tours?
Except as part of an itinerary, international and domestic airfares; visa and excess baggage fees; insurance. Personal expenses, such as laundry or drinks in the Bar Lounge Car. Some tours may include an optional activity that must be paid locally.

The experienced assistants and tour managers are chosen for their travel knowledge, linguistic and organisational abilities. This allows you to relax and enjoy your rail trip. Our Tour Managers receive outstanding comments from passengers and aim to make sure you have a wonderful holiday.
Arrival & Departure Transfers
Tours include arrival transfers from the international airport into our hotel and departure transfers from our hotel to the airport.
Hotel & On-train Accommodation
While you’ll spend a lot of time sightseeing and relaxing in the train’s public areas you will find your hotel room/cabin a pleasant retreat after a long day. All hotels are five-star or the best in that locale.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
All meals are included from the evening meal on the first day to breakfast on the last. Each departure has one or two Restaurant Cars, where you can enjoy excellent waiter-served food as well as wine. We will sample local cuisine and drink on the train several times throughout the tour.
Drinks With Your Meals
Lunch and dinner are included with a generous allowance of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
Onboard Services
Service will be friendly, attentive and non-intrusive. Car attendants are available 24 hours a day and will clean your car and turn down the cabins. One attendant is always on hand to help you and ensure that you feel comfortable in your cabin. Your cabin has complimentary tea, coffee, and bottles of water 24 hours a days.
Guide During All Excursions
Our local guides will bring to life the history and culture of each place we visit during our rail cruises. To make the most of your time off-train, all our tours include a variety of sightseeing to bring you closer the history, culture, and people of your destinations. It is these little details that create unforgettable memories.
Your Personal Headsets
To enhance your understanding and enjoyment of your off-train excursion, you will receive a personal headset to allow you to hear your tour guide while you are taking in the sights. You don’t have to miss any details during your excursions.
Onboard Doctor & Medical Information
Our tours include a doctor accompanying us throughout the journey. This gives you peace of mind and allows you to be sure that you have access to medical care whenever you need it. The doctor is available 24 hours a days to provide primary care if needed. The doctor will normally speak English and be registered with UK’s General Medical Council.
Wi-Fi On The Train
Wi-Fi is available to guests while they travel in Europe. Wi-Fi connections are dependent on cell signal. There will be times when there is no or limited coverage. Please do not expect reliable service when moving through remote areas.
Porterage Available
You only need to unpack once so your belongings and luggage will be with you throughout the journey. However, porterage is available between stations and hotels if necessary.
Tips Included
Golden Eagle Luxury Trains will take care of tipping, as gratuities are included in the price you pay for the tour.
