How Far In Advance Do I Need To Book ?
This train tour is an exclusive trip with limited departures through the season and only 18 cabins on the train. Consequently we strongly advise our clients to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.
Can You Obtain & Advise On The Visas For Us ?
For visas (if required and most do not need them for this trip) we recommend using a specialist visa agent and have an arrangement with CIBT Visa Central who offer a reliable service for all the visas you will need for your trip.
Are Your Tours Financially Protected ?
Yes! All our trips come with financial protection either through our ATOL if the trip includes a flight or insurances which comply with the UK package travel regulations for any trip that does not include a flight. In addition our ABTA membership means we must adhere to their strict code of conduct.
Can You Book International Flights For Us ?
Absolutely! Our ATOL license means that we can book international or indeed internal flights. Just let us know which airports you want to fly from or to and we will be more than happy to give a quote.
Can You Book Further Travel For Us ?
Yes! We can offer extensions to further explore France at either end of the trip. Just ask us for details.
Does The Train Have Adapters For The Plug Sockets ?
Adapters are available, just ask your steward for one.
What Types Of Luggage Are Allowed On Board ?
You can store 1 cabin bag per person in the cabin. However, larger items of luggage must be placed in the storage area at the end of each car. Just ask your steward if you wish to access them.
What Is The Dress Code On Le Grand Tour ?
For dinner aboard Le Grand Tour, we ask our travellers to dress in elegant evening wear.
For men: trousers, shirt, blazer and smart shoes.
For women: a distinguished outfit.
Jeans and trainers are not allowed at dinner. Smart casual attire will be suitable for stopovers.
Does The Train Have Wi-Fi ?
For your comfort, all cabins and communal areas have Wi-Fi access. Please note that this service may be disrupted when travelling through a black spot.
Is Smoking Allowed On The Train ?
In accordance with the European rules and for the benefit of all travellers, smoking is forbidden aboard Le Grand Tour. Vaping is also forbidden on the train.
Can I Eat On The Train ?
The vast majority of meals will be served in the dining car provided for the purpose, as mentioned in the Bar and dining cars section. Room service is available so meals can be served in the cabins, on request and for extra charge.
Are Special Dietary Requirements Catered For On Board ?
If you have allergies or special dietary requirements, please let our ambassadors know at least two months before the departure date so we can offer you a suitable menu.
Is Le Grand Tour Suitable For Children ?
Many of the organised activities are unsuitable for children.
How Far Does The Train Cover Between Each Stop ?
The train travels 500-600km per day which amounts to a total of just under 4,000km for the entire journey.
Does The Train Travel At Night ?
The train stops at a station at night to ensure our travellers get a restful night’s sleep.
What Languages Are Spoken On Board ?
The teams on Le Grand Tour are trained to interact with an international clientele and speak at least French and English. The explanations during stopovers will also be provided in French and English.
Can I Customise My Trip ?
During the second meeting with our Le Grand Tour ambassadors, you can choose to take part in the main stopover or book and option from the suggested programme.
