Experience You Can Rely On
Founder, Chris Stanley, caught the travel bug whilst training to be a chartered surveyor in the early 1990s. After several years of travelling through much of Africa and Asia he found himself in Hong Kong running out of money and in one of life’s quirks of fate found a job with a local travel company who promptly relocated him to Beijing where he would spend the next 11 years dealing with the Trans-Siberian – Russia, Mongolia and China.
Returning to the UK days after the Beijing Olympics of 2008, he decided to set up a travel company specialised in China and the Trans-Siberian just as the financial crisis got into full swing! Seemingly against the odds this venture quickly grew and continues to offer more and more travel options across Russia, Mongolia and throughout China through The Trans-Siberian Travel Company and the sister operation, The China Travel Company.
Over the nearly 30 years the focus increasingly veered to the higher end luxury trains that run across Russia, Central Asia and China. One suspects that as you get older the desire for greater comfort grows! Hence it seemed a good idea to move the development of the business towards luxury trains and why just stick to the ones that operate across Asia – hence the birth of The Luxury Train Travel Company.
Along came the pandemic which caused 2 years of disruption to many facets of life including travel. However, it also provided time to take stock and further develop the business and expand our worldwide offerings. As the world returns to something approaching normality we are delighted to offer you our collection of truly special train journeys – and so our journey continues as well.
