ABOUT THE ROVOS RAIL LUXURY TRAIN
You can relive the romance and elegance of an era gone by when travelers experienced the wonders and magic of Africa in a casual and elegant way. Classic wood-panelled coaches combine modern technology with old-fashioned comfort.
Accommodation carriages, dining cars (+42 seats), a lounge vehicle (+26 seats), small gift shop and a smoking lounge (+-11) are all available on each train. Each train also has an observation car (+32 seats) with an open-air balcony. In keeping with the spirit of an older era, there is no television set or radio onboard.
All travellers are welcome - couples, singles and groups. There are two-seaters, four-seaters, and a single-seater dining car. Guests can eat together or separately in the cars. The observation and lounge cars with large picture windows, sofas, and booths make great places to mingle or just relax.
Many passengers love the formality of fine china, glassware, crisp line and silver and so dress accordingly. Evening attire is more formal, while smart casual is the norm for days onboard. Long journeys offer themed evenings, where guests can dress up or wear smart casual.
A team of enthusiastic chefs are responsible for ensuring that guests have everything they need. The emphasis is on fresh local ingredients, and traditional dishes are a speciality. The meals are served in one-person dining rooms and are accompanied by fine South African wines.
