The Rovos Rail Observation Cars
The observation car can carry +-32 people. It has a large open-air balcony, large picture windows, a bar, sofas, and booths that allow you to mingle or relax in quiet areas. Afternoon tea is served in the lounge or observation cars at 16:30 on most days. Bar service begins at +07:00-01:00.
The Rovos Rail Lounge Cars
The lounge car can carry +-26 people. It has large picture windows, sofas, and wingbacks that allow for great socializing or quiet areas to relax. Afternoon tea is served in the observation car lounge at 16:30 on most days. Bar service runs from +07:00 to 01:00 on other days. An onboard historian hosts lectures in the lounge car during long journeys. A small gift shop is located at one end of the carriage. It sells bespoke memorabilia in a stylish, well-lit glass space.
The Rovos Rail Dining Cars
Each dining car can seat up to 42 passengers. The number of passengers traveling on the train will determine whether there are one or two dining cars. There are two-seaters, four-seaters, and a third that can be used for individual or group dining. Only one meal is served. Breakfast: 07:00-10:00, Lunch: 13:00, Formal Dinner: 19:30 Unless otherwise noted in the itinerary, all meals are served at these times. Hot breakfasts are prepared to order, while lunch and dinner consist of four-course meals that are paired with fine South African wines. Although our bar menu includes many items, you will need to request special items like French Champagne in advance.
What Is Included On A Rovos Rail Tour
All meals, all beverages onboard; accommodation; room service; laundry; excursions with a qualified tour guide (where applicable); entry fees according to itinerary; on-board historians, hairstylists and doctors; tax government. Rail trip accommodation includes an overnight bag, meals, tea/coffee, breakfast juices, snacks, and beverages on the sunset cruise.
What Is Excluded On A Rovos Rail Tour
Gratuities, personal expenses, visas, travel insurance, pre- and post-tour accommodation and flights; international sparkling wine; gratuities All other beverages, meals at unspecified places, laundry and personal expenses are not allowed in off-train accommodation. International Airfare from/to the Start/Finish of the Trip, Visas are also excluded. We can partner with VisaCentral to provide advice and assistance, as well as Travel Insurance to cover any medical treatment.
